No and no. Frankly, I was stunned to learn how highly regarded it is among the ?faithful?. Technically, it?s a poor ?marriage?, sonically coupling the tail end of the driver?s break-up modes to the HF horn?s compression loaded BW. The 416, and especially the 515, are better than most WRT controlling break-up modes, but????

Run the 416 full-range by itself and with various XO points/slopes and let your ears decide. Altec knew they needed to use either the 515 or a custom, but between budget constraints and the desire to keep up with the competition bass ?thump? wise????
